Maybe we don't have to wait.

The Wrap says they contacted MGM and werre told Red Dawn is still slated for a November release. This jives with what I heard from my source.  I do know that everything is on hold till all the MGM problems are sorted out. Don't expect a trailer any time soon. I agree that if Red Dawn comes out after Thor, if it's good, could really help Red Dawn do better.

If we have to wait for Red Dawn there is always Homefront.

Here is the thrailer for the new game Homefront. The single player campaign was penned by John Milius (original Red Dawn) and looks to be a great game. Looks like it comes out February 22, 2011. More to come.

Red Dawn News updates

There are some more "Red Dawn" stories floating around the internets.

The LA Times: Is a Hollywood liberal conspiracy keeping 'Red Dawn' away from theaters? (And the used my poster too)

Slash Film: More MGM Fallout: Red Dawn Delayed, Perhaps Indefinitely?

As far as the release date goes, I have learned from my sources that this most likely will change. We won't know anything till MGM sorts out their mess.

"Red Dawn' in the news

Over the past few days there have been a few stories getting a lot of attention. I'm not really going say much about these, just going to post the links.

The Awl: Real America: "Red Dawn" Remade: China is Coming for Our Children

The New Yorker: Red Dawn Again

The Hollywood Reporter: Chinese press rails against 'Red Dawn'

My two cents:

Movies are art. Good or bad, they are art. Art is meant to provoke thought and emotion. This movie is doing just that.

No matter how racist some people think it is, or how anti-Chinese people think it is, it is just a MOVIE. Don't go see it if you feel that strongly about it. I'm from Middle Eastern descent and if there is a group of people that Hollywood misrepresents it's them. It doesn’t bother me one bit though. They are just movies. Fiction. I'm not saying it's wrong to be upset about a movie or other piece of art because you find it offensive, it just doesn't affect me that way.

I encourage everyone to use our forums to discuss both the positive and negative of this film. Just keep it civilized.

Also I want to say hi to www.anti-reddawn2010.com. If you haven't been to this site yet go check it out. (You'll need to use Google Translator though.) I love that they are speaking their mind, I just don't agree with them trying to stop or alter the release of the film. This is a free country and we enjoy freedom of speech here.

I look forward to the film and hope it is as good as the original.
